Places to visit- Hunstanton, Norfolk

Hunstanton is a very well know location for holidaymakers, but for me, it has a couple of really nice spots for bagging a few good landscape shots.

Its ideally suited for sunset due to facing the west in the county of Norfolk and ideally, you want to have left it a minimum of 2.5 hours after high tide to get the best shots.

The popularity of this location with photographers comes from things such as:

• The parallel lines of the rocks in the water.
• It’s a safe bet for grabbing those few well-known images as it has so much to offer and you can easily recognise the go-to shots.
• There are plenty of other things for the non-photographers in the family to do.
• It’s has a fabulous boat wreck to photograph.
• There is the most amazing red cliff face made up of sandstone.

It features in my top must-visit locations due to it offering something very different for the area and the shape of the rocks makes for a perfect long exposure work.

For parking, you can either try the free parking in the town, then walk down onto the North Promenade, then keep the sea on your left and walk for 5-10 mins and you can’t miss either the rocks or the trawler wreck, but parking is very limited on warmer days.

Alternatively, you can park at the lighthouse clifftop pay and display car park then walk back along the beach towards Hunstanton with the cliffs on your left and then again you can’t miss the trawler wreck or the stones

Useful information.

• You need to have change for parking, around £5 covers you for the day.

• Check the tides, it needs to have been at least 2.5 hrs since high tide if you want to get the rocks at the right level and also water around the trawler wreck
• There are plenty of great kid’s parks and amusements in the main town, so your family can have a nice few hours while you do your thing.
• The car parks do get very busy at peak seasons.

• When on the beach, keep a close eye on the floor for fossils, it’s another one of Norfolk great hunting spots for them.
