North West Scotland Photo Tour - November 2024

£875.00 GBP

Northwest and the Top of Scotland Landscape Photo Tour

Friday 8th till Wednesday 13th November 2024

Join me and fellow professional photographer James Fortune for an unforgettable photography experience in the stunning yet rugged North West of Scotland, where we will be based in the coastal area of Ullapool. We will then explore the surrounding coastline and mountain vistas. Where we plan to explore, you can't get further North in the UK and at this time of year the world-famous NC500 tourist traffic will be at a minimum and the pesky Midges and Mozzys will also be nowhere to be seen, and lots of the locations we will have to ourselves.

Accommodation: Indulge in the comfort of private rooms situated within a picturesque loch-side home with views over the area that we will be photographing. Our well-located accommodation offers convenient access to magnificent sunrise and sunset beaches, mountain vistas and castles, adorned with colossal cliffs that add an extra touch of allure to your shots.

Photography Opportunities: Prepare to be inspired by the diverse range of subjects that await you. Along the immediate coastline and within a short drive, you'll encounter awe-inspiring rock pinnacles, majestic cliffs, expansive harbour walls, mystical caves, turquoise seas and unspoilt beaches, remote lighthouses, and charming fishing villages. Delve a short drive inland to immerse yourself in varying woodlands and be at the foot of awe-inspiring mountain vistas reflecting in the lochs in the foreground. Offering endless exploration. If you're seeking grandeur, and if fortune smiles upon us, we may witness the mesmerizing Aurora, as our location is ideally situated for its displays with nothing between us and the North Pole, so light pollution will be minimal.

Locations planned to visit: With a focus on the coastal areas and what lies within a short drive inland, we will be photographing the west of the counties of Ross and Cromarty and also Sutherland. Part of what we will cover will be the well-known views from near the NC500 route but with lots of diversions off the well-trodden path.
Some of the fabulous locations we will visit are:
Assynt, Clachtol, Durness,  Loch Bad a' Ghaill, Stoer, Torridon and many more.

Transport: All transport is included in the price of the workshop, we will have the use of an 8-seater minibus for the duration of the tour. We will split the fuel costs between us as a group.

Workshop Details: Upon reaching check-in time, we'll check in and immediately head out to capture the captivating sunset at a local location. Throughout our trip, we'll embrace early mornings, and conclude our photography sessions at sunset each day. On the departure day, if flight times permit, we'll seize the opportunity to capture one last stunning sunrise before making our way back to the airport. There will be as much tuition on hand as you require, as there will be 2 professional landscape photographers on hand at all times. Both me and James Fortune will ensure you have all the knowledge you could ever need.

Group Size and Booking: This tour accommodates a maximum of 6 paying participants, ensuring personalized guidance and attention. Payment via the website checkout system confirms your booking.

You can secure your spot with a £150 deposit and the booking is confirmed upon payment, to arrange this please send me an email or message as this will need to be paid by bacs. The remaining balance will be due at the end of July 2024.

To help me out, If you wish to pay your deposit or in full by bacs as opposed to the checkout system, I can provide you with bacs details to pay in full in 1 payment. By doing this it does help to keep my costs down as Paypal does take a large chunk of any sales, around £30 per transaction.

Additional Information: Please note that certain parts of our photography adventure may involve walking on unmade paths and working at heights from cliff tops, safety is always our top priority and dynamic risk assessing will be undertaken at all times. While we won't be scaling mountains during this trip, I recommend bringing suitable foul-weather clothing, as our workshop will proceed regardless of the weather conditions.

Insurance and Meals: Camera and personal insurance are not included in the workshop cost. Furthermore, the workshop fee does not cover meals. However, we will conveniently utilize a local supermarket to prepare food for on-the-go, and a variety of local restaurants will be available for dining after sunset. Our accommodation is equipped with full cooking facilities for your convenience.
