Kent Coast Sunset Photography Workshop.

Saturday 1st June - Starting at 4:00 pm till 21:00 hrs

The Kent Coast Landscape Photography session is another amazing location-packed session I have decided to run again and follows on from the successful sessions I ran in the area in previous years.

While I have been visiting this coastline for the past 10 years visiting family, I spend a lot of the time walking the county's amazing shorelines photographing all the stunning locations.

This workshop is aimed at anybody who has a very basic understanding of the manual controls on their DSLR/CSC camera, right through to people who know how to use their camera and just want to improve their photographic practice.

Where will the workshop start?

We will start at a predetermined location. The session is timed to make the best of the tides and the sunset for the time of year.

How do I teach on the Kent Coast Seascape Photography Workshop?

The day is filled with landscape photography tuition out on location on the Kent coast.

This is a group workshop situation, so the time will be split amongst all students.

By the end of the session, you will have a full understanding of what the settings on your camera do in relation to Long Exposure work, You will know what filters achieve what results, and how to calculate exposures correctly. You will be taking control of your camera and the settings and letting the creativity start to flow.

• Critical theory around making Long Exposures images
• Setting up your camera correctly for shooting long exposures.
• What ND filters are used for what effects?
• Calculating long exposure times correctly.
• Understanding of landscape compositions.
• Thoughts on editing images.

What experience do I have as a tutor?

All day while shooting we will be discussing the theory behind making work, what stands out and what sells, what makes a good image and how can we get that image we see into our cameras. This comes off the back of my many years of commercial photography experience and time spent studying photography as an art form.

Extra information.

The session duration is 5 hours.

Please bring along snacks and drinks, as due to the locations we will be shooting having limited facilities. There will not be a guarantee of a shop being nearby at all times.

We will stop for a hot drink and a bite to eat at some point throughout the day, this is not covered in the workshop cost.

Will you need any filters?

I will be able to lend you some Landscape filters to cover every shooting scenario. This will allow you to experiment with different effects under expert guidance. But if you are interested in landscape photography we would encourage you to invest in a setup. I can advise you on what kit to get as it can be a little daunting looking at what you may or may not need.

• DSLR or CSC Camera
• Spare Batteries and memory cards
• Wide-angle lens
• Cable or radio release for the shutter
• A sturdy tripod, I can lend you one if required

Booking information

Booking is confirmed once full payment has been received via the checkout system.

You will receive an email 2 days before the start date of the workshop, this is to confirm the starting location because we need to plan and amend finer details such as allowing for the weather. 

Cancellations

Over 2 weeks before the event you will receive a full refund.

Within 2 weeks of the session, you will be offered another chance to book a date.

We reserve the right to cancel the workshop due to adverse weather. A full refund or booking on the amended date will be offered in this case. We can't be held responsible for any travel or accommodation charges that will be lost due to a canceled workshop.

Please also note

The locations we visit during the session may require the purchase of a car park ticket. Please make sure you have adequate change.

Please bring along food and drink, sensible footwear for walking on unpaved pathways, and suitable clothing.

The session will require a relatively standard fitness level as we will only be walking on unmade paths and coastal areas, as example, you will need to be able to carry your camera bag while walking for 20 minutes along the coast.

Camera insurance is not included in the price.

Don't forget to charge your batteries. Make sure that you have sufficient space on your memory cards for a day’s shooting.
